Sarah Palin Shoots Congresswoman Giffords

Time To Take A Stand

On January 8, 2011, congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords (Democrat, Arizona) was shot outside a busy Tucson supermarket. Six people were killed and fourteen others were wounded. Giffords is recovering in the hospital from a head wound.

Charges filed against Jared Lee Loughner on January 9, 2011, are one count of attempted assassination of member of Congress, two counts of killing an employee of the federal government and two counts of attempting to kill a federal employee. More state and federal charges could follow, including possible domestic terrorism counts.

Loughner seems to have planned the attack for several months including prior attendance of Giffords events, political rants on YouTube, and letters stored in his home and on MySpace.

In the wake of the shooting, Sarah Palin is taking the heat for her political rhetoric.

The combination of Palin's (Republican, former governor of Alaska) March 2010 tweet, "Don't Retreat, Instead -- RELOAD!" and her poster listing House Democrats who voted for health care reform with crosshairs aimed at their location as political targets, including Giffords, has led many left wing conspirists to liter the internet with assertions that Palin is to blame for the shooting. Clearly the poster implied another attempt to win the seats in the next election.

Loughner has ties to the hate group, American Renaissance, not Palin nor the Tea Party movement.

Palin responded to the shooting on January 8, 2011 with a statement that included the following,

"My sincere condolences are offered to the family of Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and the other victims of today's tragic shooting in Arizona. On behalf of Todd and my family, we all pray for the victims and their families, and for peace and justice."
