  7. What My Mother Doesn't Know, by Sonya Sones; 
  8. Nickel and Dimed, by Barbara Ehrenreich; 
  9. Revolutionary Voices, edited by Amy Sonnie; 
  10. Twilight, by Stephenie Meyer

The American Library Association  Office for Intellectual Freedom compiles a list each year of the most requested books to ban. About 37% of the challenges come from classrooms and about 30% from classrooms. The ALA condemns censorship and works to ensure free access to information.

Books are challenged for various reasons including “sexually explicit” material; “offensive language”; material deemed “unsuited to age group”; “violence”; “homosexuality”;  “anti-family,” and because of their “religious viewpoints.”
